Mauao Walk and Workshop
1. TOUR DETAILS
DURATION: 3 hour experience - 4 hours with setup and packdown
RATIOS: 1:7, plus an extra staff member
PROVISIONS:
- Mihimihi, storytelling
- Sunscreen, hand sanitiser
- Snacks and water
- Gourmet snacks ie kombucha, cheese/crackers, berries/grapes, nuts, chocolate, salami bites, pea snaps, muesli bars
- Weaving or rongoā workshop
Kai budget - $10pp
Oceanna will purchase and deliver kai and extra provisions prior to the tour. Follow up with her beforehand to ensure everything needed will be onsite.
2. ROLES
Lead Guide: Takes the lead, keeps the pace
Support Guides: A guide to take up the rear, and remaining guides to take up the middle - leaves no one behind, keeps everyone to pace, ensures safety of participants, provides assistance, communicates any issues observed
Port Pickup: Manages the Port pickup process
Kaikōrero: Delivers mihi, karakia and the kōrero (can be a shared role)
Timekeeper: Keeps the group to schedule
Comms: Maintains communications with base and cruise agent
Photographer: Takes photos
Workshop Facilitator: Delivers the workshop
Workshop Assistant: Helps with the workshop delivery, provides hands-on assistance to guests and facilitator
Group Admin: Manage feedback, tips, briefing and debriefing, reporting back to management
Shopping: Manages the pūtea, shopping and delivery of kai
Setup/Packdown: Preparing all provisions, packing and washing up after
Delegate all tasks prior to the event.

KAI
Facilitate kai, assist guests with filling their plates, give info regarding the food provided, maintain general chat.
Kaimahi are welcome to enjoy the food with the guests.

WORKSHOP
Facilitate the weaving of a simple item like a putiputi, a place mat or a bangle.
Supporting staff should assist the facilitator by helping guests with their weaving.
Take a photo of all guests with their creations.
Close the session off with Karakia.
